Built to answer one question fairly

“Where would my money have grown the most?” โ€” computed from adjusted closes, so dividends and distributions count. Index funds get a fair fight against growth stocks.

The $10k what-if

Each percentage carries its dollar translation: what $10,000 invested at period start would be worth today โ€” verifiable via a third-party calculator, one click away.

Pin what you own

Pinned investments stay highlighted in the chart while everything else fades back โ€” track your holdings against the field.

Fees, visible

Expense ratios fetched automatically and shown beside returns โ€” because a 0.03% fund and a 0.84% fund are not the same deal.

Every line starts at zero

The comparison chart normalizes every investment to 0% at the period start, so a $500 ETF and a $40 fund plot on equal footing โ€” the only thing you see is growth. Switch periods and the whole timeline re-anchors instantly.

How the numbers are actually computed

Most comparison tools quietly get this wrong. Here's exactly what money-maker does, so you can trust the number without taking our word for it โ€” every $10k figure links to a third-party calculator that re-derives it independently.

Why "adjusted close" instead of the sticker price

Stock and ETF prices drop on their ex-dividend date by roughly the dividend paid โ€” a raw price chart makes a dividend payer look like it's losing money. money-maker uses each security's dividend- and split-adjusted closing price, so a return already accounts for cash paid out along the way, exactly as if you'd reinvested it. That's why a fund's return here usually reads higher, and more accurate, than its raw price chart on most financial sites.

Fund fees are shown, not hidden inside the return

A mutual fund or ETF's published NAV is already net of its expense ratio โ€” the fee is baked into the price you see. We display the expense ratio alongside the return anyway, as a visible fact for comparison, not as a further deduction. A 0.03% index fund and a 0.84% actively managed fund can post the exact same return number; the fee tells you how much of the manager's skill you're actually paying for.

Crypto and stocks share one timeline

Crypto trades every day of the year; stocks and funds only trade on market days. When you compare BTC against VOO, money-maker aligns both onto the stock market's trading calendar so the chart's x-axis means the same thing for every line โ€” no double-counting weekend crypto moves that a stock investor simply couldn't have captured.

Data freshness

Prices sync automatically while the market is open and once more shortly after close; crypto syncs around the clock. Every row shows exactly when its data was last refreshed, so you always know how current a number is.
